This order from the front lines of the pandemic also began to turn the gears of founder Kevin's life.
Looking back at the summer of 2001, Kevin, who had just graduated from medical school and was full of passion for exploring the world, resolutely ventured into fields such as event PR, English education, and recruitment consulting. This young man, who once thought he was drifting further away from the medical world, unexpectedly returned to the medical field in a different capacity 20 years after the SARS outbreak. The COVID-19 rapid test kit became the first touchstone for AURA Biotech in the Taiwanese medical market.

As we move into 2026, healthcare demands in the post-pandemic era have evolved from simple screening to precision diagnosis. Our technological core has advanced from basic COVID-19 testing into Flu A/Flu B and RSV 3-in-1 in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagents. In the more than ten years that LUCE Lighting Design has been deeply rooted in the industry, we have frequently encountered a core challenge in the Taiwan market: even professional interior designers or architects often treat lighting as a secondary element. There is a common perception that "lighting isn't important; just a brief mention on the blueprints is enough," or "as long as the 3D rendering looks good, it's fine." This reflects the long-standing predicament of lighting design being undervalued in Taiwan.
In contrast to the international market, whether it be the premium Italian hotels, private villas, or luxury penthouses we have participated in, lighting design has always been the core. This is because we understand deeply: no matter how precious the building materials and furniture are, without a well-layered lighting atmosphere, it is difficult for owners to appreciate the true value of a space.
In 2022, the founder resolutely enrolled in architectural interior renovation certification courses specifically to establish a "common language" with designers and architects. We want clients to understand that through precise lighting parameters (IES) and professional lighting configurations, light effects no longer need to be left to the imagination or rely on over-embellished 3D renderings. Presenting authentic lighting effects with real data is not only our professional commitment but also the key to a project's success.

In 2024, we successfully secured the lighting design project for the first-floor lobby of a listed development in Taipei's Xinyi District. For a long time, the Japanese brands dominating the outdoor sports market have struggled to fully adapt to these harsh local demands; meanwhile, products from Europe and America—designed for continental climates—cannot precisely handle Taiwan’s high heat and humidity.
